Are they the seeds to be nurtured to bring in automation, innovation and transformation. There is a saying, necessity is the mother of invention. I would say, innovation is amalgamation of creativity and necessity. We need to understand the ecosystem, to apply creativity and identify the ideas to bring in change. We need to be competent with changing ecosystem and think beyond the possible. What is the biggest challenge in doing this? "Unlearning and Learning", we think the current ecosystem is the best. Be it health, finserve, agriculture or mechanical domain, we need to emphasize with the stakeholders, to come up with the strategy to drive. The very evident example here is the quality of life is changing every millisecond. Few decades back the phone connection was limited to few, but today all the millennials are having a mobile phone. Now phone is not just a medium to talk, but are so powerful devices that an innovative solution can be developed on it.
Hello
Data Scientists,
2. Easy to install across platforms.
3. Standalone computing and individual servers.
4. Extensive library of statistical packages.
5. Extra ordinary Data Visualization.
6. RStudio is big plus, easy to use IDE.
7. Easy to integrate with other packages like Excel, SAS.
8. Easy to create scripts and pass on to other stakeholders.

Let me continue from my last blog http://outstandingoutlier.blogspot.in/2017/08/why-data-scientist-prefer-r.html :: “Why Data
Scientists prefer R?” where I shared my personnel choice of embracing R as the
preferable tool for analytics. I had articulated top 10 reason for me to go for
it as listed below (again):
1. Open source software.2.
9. Trend for R in flying high, it’s in thing in Data Statistical category.
10. Higher average salary for R practitioners.
Given that we had decided to move ahead with R as our tool for
analytics, let me walk you through step by step guide how to install R.
Step
1: Smart way to install is to search "Download R" on www.google.com
Step 2: From the google search result, click link having title "R: The R Project for Statistical Computing" this url is the home page for R open source community.
Step
3: Click "download R" on the home page, it will redirect to CRAN
site. CRAN is Comprehensive R Archive Network in simple words to distribute the
download requests across globe various nodes are setup in each geography,
like for India node (server) is setup in IIT Madras for quick
response. Each node is hooked up with base server which makes sure
all nodes have latest and greatest packages. It is recommended to pick nearest
node for optimal download speed.
Step 4: At the nearest CRAN node, click on the Download R for <OS> that matches your operating system. Download for R is available for all Operating systems be it Linux, Mac or Windows. On clicking for the right OS link, it will direct you to that OS specific section as shown in the snapshot below. Click "install R for the first time".
Step 5: Click “Download R 3.4.1 for windows” for windows OS, similarly you will be directed for other set of OS as well.
Step 6: Save executable(setup) R-3.4.1-win.exe, to your local system. Once done click executable follow install wizard step by step.
Once
R framework is installed, it is recommended to install R Studio which is the
IDE for R. As a .Net developer I prefer good UI for development. It is not
mandatory to install R Studio but individual preference.
Step
7: To install R Studio search "Download R Studio" on www.google.com.
Step
8: Click “Download RStudio – RStudio”. To install R Studio search
"Download R Studio" on www.google.com. It will take you to the RStudio site.
Step
9: Click Download underneath RStudio Desktop (Open Source License) i.e., first
DOWNLOAD button. This version is s FREE however there are other versions listed
with license fee cost, choose as you need one for your work.
Step
10: Click “DOWNLOAD” Green Button underneath RStudio Desktop (Open Source
License) i.e., first DOWNLOAD button.
Step
11: Click appropriate installer for the OS version you want. I clicked “
RStudio 1.0.153 - Windows
Vista/7/8/10” for windows 10 for my laptop.
Step
12: Save executable(setup) RStudio-1.0.153.exe, to your local system. Once done
click executable follow install wizard step by step.
Once Installed Launch R Studio, it will look like as below.
With this you are all set to go head and start practicing R using RStudio. In my next blog, I will begin with “Basic operations for R”.
Thank you once again for time reading through this article, I hope
it helpful and you were successfully able to install R framework and R Studio. Kindly
share your valuable and kind opinions. Please do not forget to suggest what you
would like to understand and hear from me in my future blogs.
Thank you...
